Job summary

Connecticut State Community College in New Haven seeks a Wellness Counselor to enhance student mental health, wellness, and overall wellbeing. The role leads counseling services, creates wellness programs, and partners with faculty and staff to close equity gaps and improve retention.

The position requires a master’s in counseling, social work, or related field, or a psychology PhD, with CT licensure and relevant experience. On-site, full-time, 35 hours per week, January 2027 start.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy
• Doctoral degree in psychology with licensure in CT
• Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), LCSW, LMFT, PsyD or PhD with CT licensure
• Experience with crisis counseling and intervention
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)

Responsibilities

• Provide professional counseling services to CT State students contributing to their academic, career, and personal goals
• Develop and deliver wellness counseling programming for student well-being and retention
• Advise faculty/staff on appropriate actions for students needing support
• Attend convocation, commencement, and participate in committees and meetings including evenings/weekends
