Job summary

Vermont State University is seeking a licensed mental health professional to provide direct counseling to students, including assessment, treatment planning, and crisis intervention, under the supervision of the Director of Health and Wellness.

The role includes maintaining EMR records, serving as a consultant for campus departments, and collaborating with staff, parents, and community providers to support student success and overall wellness.

Qualifications

• Rostered in Vermont with a master’s degree in either mental health counseling, social work, psychology, or similar field.
• Experience in higher education and being licensed in a psychotherapy field is preferred.
• HIPAA-compliant records management experience or understanding is expected.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct services to students including clinical assessment, treatment planning, diagnostic formulation, short-term counseling and crisis interventions.
• Maintain case records through the EMR system following HIPAA standards.
• Serve as a consultant and trainer for residential life, student success staff, and other university departments on counseling and Wellness programming matters.
• Confer regularly with student success staff, faculty, and other personnel, as well as with parents and community health care providers, to plan, coordinate and evaluate activities.
• Co-facilitate and provide support for groups, trainings, events, and to interns as needed by supervisor.
