Job summary

Columbia University in the City of the City of New York seeks a Manager, Waste Recycle & Fleet to oversee campus waste logistics and recycling programs while managing turf and landscape maintenance across Morningside Heights and Manhattanville campuses.

The role requires NYC pesticide applicator certification, leadership and extensive experience in waste management, with oversight of a Grounds/Waste team and collaboration with campus partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee waste and recycling management for campus sites including snow removal strategy.
• Work with Grounds to maintain lawns and landscapes in accordance with city regulations.
• Supervise daily tasks of Grounds and Waste Management staff.
• Review staff performance and manage payroll, overtime, and purchasing records.
• Establish and enforce standards, policies, and procedures for staff work.
• Collaborate with NYDOS and assist with campus events.
• Coordinate with Director of Custodial Services on waste routines.
• Support special events on campus.
• Supervise pesticide application by NYS DEC Certificated personnel in accordance with regulations.
