Job summary

University of Minnesota Duluth is seeking part-time Sport Clubs coaches to plan, organize, and lead daily practices and competitions for a roster of sport-related student groups. Coaches work under the Associate Director of Recreation and Wellness, attending daytime and evening sessions and special events.

Responsibilities include practice management, game preparation, mentorship, and ensuring compliance with university policies.

Qualifications

• Experience: Previous sport coaching and/or administrative experience required; sport-specific experience preferred
• Education: High school diploma or an equivalent or sport coaching and administrative experience
• Certifications: CPR/AED Certification preferred
• Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work with a diverse group of student-athletes.
• Availability: Must be available for practices, games, and travel as required by an individual Sport Club, which may include evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute weekly practices, focusing on skill development, team strategy, and conditioning
• Develop game plans, manage team rosters, and make in-game decisions to maximize team performance
• Provide guidance, encouragement, and support to student-athletes both on and off the field
• Ensure adherence to all University and Club Sports Program policies, including safety protocols and eligibility requirements
