Job summary

International Leadership of Texas is seeking an experienced Special Education Coordinator to lead campus SPED services and coordinate ARD processes. You will serve as the primary liaison for students, families, and staff, facilitating IEP development and ensuring compliant implementation.

The role requires TX SPED certification, a Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred), and at least five years of SPED teaching or leadership experience, with a focus on collaboration, training, and program

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required.
  • Master’s degree in Education from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Valid Texas Teacher Certification in Special Education required.
  • Valid Texas Teacher Certification in Elementary or Middle School Generalist OR Core Subjects EC-6 OR Core Subjects 4–8 OR Other valid Texas teaching certificate appropriate for the grade levels K-8.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with students, parents, and staff to develop IEP through the ARD Committee process for each student assigned.
  • Implement an instructional, therapeutic, or skill development program for assigned students and show written evidence of preparation as required.
  • Conduct assessment of student learning styles and plan using appropriate instructional strategies reflecting learning needs.
  • Present subject matter according to IEP guidelines and employ varied instructional techniques and media.
  • Work with classroom teachers to modify regular curricula and assist special education students in regular classes.
  • Participate in ARD Committee meetings on a regular basis.
  • Participate in selection of books, equipment, and instructional media.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Provide or supervise personal care, medical care, and feeding of students as stated in IEP.
  • Sponsor extracurricular activities approved by campus principal.
  • Consult district and outside resources regarding education, social, medical, and personal needs of students.
  • Establish and maintain open communication by conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
  • Maintain professional relationships with parents, students, and colleagues.
  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
  • Keep informed of and comply with regulations and policies for special education teachers.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all reports and documents required.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees.
