Chartwells Higher Education Dining Services at the University of Minnesota-Rochester is hiring for a full-time Sous Chef. You will assist the Executive Chef, supervise cooks and food-service associates, and coordinate daily kitchen operations.

This position requires at least 2 years of sous-chef experience, a strong commitment to food safety and quality, and the ability to work a varied full-time schedule. Pay ranges from $23.50 to $26.50 per hour, with a comprehensive benefits package for

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of sous chef experience.
• Willingness to work a full-time schedule with variable days/hours.

Responsibilities

• Cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards.
• Supervises hourly food service associates, including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, and reviews.
• Stores food in designated areas following all safety and sanitation procedures.
• Ensures proper food handling, portion control, and serving temperatures.
• Maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies and utensils; keeps workstation clean.
• Interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
• Explains daily menu items to associates and customers clearly.
• Monitors peak production and service hours; assists with inventory and orders.
