Job summary

Compass Group is hiring a Sous Chef (full time) at Western Washington University’s Ridgeway Commons in Bellingham, WA. The role requires prior culinary experience; leadership or supervisory experience is preferred.

Pay ranges from $26.85 to $31.80 per hour. The Sous Chef will supervise kitchen staff, ensure food safety and quality, manage production schedules, and collaborate with the Executive Chef to meet daily menus and service demands on campus.

Qualifications

• Prior culinary experience with developed skill sets (knife skills, line/prep/grill, batching, temperatures, food safety & sanitation) required.
• Prior Lead or Supervisory / Sous Chef experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards.
• Supervises hourly food service associates and handles scheduling and training.
• Stores food in designated areas following safety procedures.
• Maintains proper serving temperatures and portion control.
• Ensures sanitation of equipment and workstation and keeps area clean.
• Interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
• Explains daily menu items to associates and customers.
• Keeps up with peak production and service hours.
• Monitors inventory and deliveries; reports low supplies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
