Job summary

Chartwells Higher Ed is hiring a Sous Chef for a full-time role at Ridgeway Commons, WWU, in Bellingham, WA. The position requires prior culinary experience and leadership or supervisory background.

Pay ranges from $26.85 to $31.80 per hour, with shifts that may vary; online applications are accepted only. The Sous Chef will assist the Executive Chef, coordinate cooks, and ensure food safety and proper temperatures.

Qualifications

• Prior culinary experience with developed skill sets including knife skills, line/prep/grill, batching, temperatures, and food safety & sanitation.

Responsibilities

• Cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards.
• Supervises hourly food service associates, including scheduling, payroll, training, and performance reviews.
• Stores food in designated areas following all safety procedures.
• Ensures proper food handling, presentation, and serving temperatures.
• Maintains sanitation of equipment, workstations, and display areas during service.
• Interacts with customers to resolve issues in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
• Keeps up with peak production and service hours.
• Monitors inventory and supplies; reports low stock to supervisor.
