Job summary

South Texas College seeks a Bus Driver to transport students, faculty, staff, and others between campuses and the Park and Ride lot. The role ensures safe operation, daily safety inspections, fueling, and orderly conduct on board.

Responsibilities include driving routes, reporting incidents, and supporting parking, security, and office tasks as needed. Requires a High School Diploma or GED and CDL; bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.

Qualifications

• Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Must be willing to learn computer usage related to position.
• Bilingual, English/Spanish, preferred.
• Must be willing and able to work various hours and rotating shifts during operating hours.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and maintenance instructions.

Responsibilities

• Drives a full-sized passenger bus in compliance with laws and regulations.
• Drives designated routes, fuels daily, and removes debris and trash.
• Discharges riders at authorized stops.
• Reports accidents and incidents immediately; completes required reports.
• Maintains order and discipline on the bus; notifies supervisor as needed.
• Ensures proper evacuation in emergencies and conducts pre/post trip inspections.
• Reports defective equipment and arranges maintenance as required.
• Prepares reports on passengers, trips, hours, fuel purchases, and mileage.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
