Job summary

Middlesex Community College (MCC) seeks an Institutional Security Officer III to safeguard campus facilities, supervise contracted security personnel, and respond to emergencies. The role supports the safety of students, staff, and visitors across the Bedford and Lowell campuses.

With duties spanning enforcement of safety policies, incident response, and daily patrols, the officer ensures secure access, monitors lighting, and coordinates with the Director of Safety and Campus Operations.

Qualifications

• Must have at least one year of full-time or equivalent security experience.
• Associate degree or higher in police science, criminal justice, or related field may substitute.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Proven ability to work under pressure and make decisions.
• Ability to supervise contracted security personnel.

Responsibilities

• Respond to campus emergencies as first responder.
• Enforce campus safety policies and procedures.
• Inspect facilities and report hazards.
• Monitor access and ensure only authorized persons on campus.
• Direct visitors and manage traffic in parking lots.
