Job summary

Jefferson Health in Philadelphia is seeking a Security Officer to protect university and hospital personnel, patients and visitors. You will perform security duties at fixed posts or on patrol, respond to calls for service, and check IDs to prevent unauthorized access.

You may assist with parking, safety teams, and campus operations. The role requires ability to operate in a 24-hour Security Response Center, rotate shifts, and communicate effectively with staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior security, police or military experience preferred.
• PA only: Valid ACT 235 Certification within 90 days of hire.
• Valid driver’s License required to work at certain Jefferson locations.
• Must understand responsibilities and technology of the 24-hour Security Response Center (SRC).
• Ability to use Microsoft Word and E-mail.

Responsibilities

• Provide security to university and hospital personnel, patients, students and visitors.
• Perform duties at fixed posts or on patrol and respond to service calls.
• Check IDs and escort unauthorized persons off campus.
• Investigate incidents and maintain daily patrol logs.
• Assist employees, patients and visitors as incidents occur.
• Support campus parking and safety teams; patrol parking areas.
• Enforce no smoking environments on campus.
• Assist with training new security staff as directed.
