Job summary

Utah State University seeks a Community Public Safety Dispatcher to handle non-emergency calls and coordinate responses for police, fire, medical, and security needs on campus. You will gather information, determine priorities, and dispatch units while monitoring alarms and safety systems.

Excellent multi-tasking and confidentiality are essential in a fast-paced environment. The role operates on a 24/7 schedule with weekend and holiday requirements, offering up to 28 hours per week.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Willing to perform shift work; primary shift weekend afternoons.
• Willing to work weekends and holidays.
• Customer service experience.

Responsibilities

• Receive calls from university departments and the public for police, fire, medical, facilities, security or other services.
• Determine the nature and location of the incident and priorities, then dispatch units as necessary.
• Dispatch facilities, maintenance and other personnel to incidents requiring immediate action.
• Monitor safety systems and alarms including fire, intrusion, access control, and cameras.
• Maintain contact with units on assignment and track status and location.
• Enter, update and retrieve information from computer systems; monitor radio frequencies.
