Job summary

The Chronicle Of Higher Education, Inc. seeks a part-time TRIO Student Support Services student assistant at Wichita State University. You will support fellow students, mentor first-generation, low-income, and disabled students, and help them navigate college life.

Responsibilities include mentoring, administrative tasks, and contributing to a supportive campus community while enrolled at Wichita State University with a minimum of 6 credit hours.

Qualifications

• Good communication skills and ability to establish positive relationships.
• Trained in or has experience with mentoring relationships.
• Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of first-generation, limited-income students and students with disabilities.
• Strong commitment to serving disadvantaged students and the program mission.

Responsibilities

• Attend peer mentoring training sessions at the start of each semester.
• Monitor and respond to email regularly.
• Provide weekly mentoring to assigned students.
• Assist in developing positive study habits and study skills for mentored students.
• Provide feedback on mentoring progress to supervisor/academic advisor.
• Complete assessments and timesheets by the due date.
• Contribute to improving mentoring processes and participate in related activities.
