Job summary

The Oakton College Enrollment Center is seeking a Peer Advisor to support academic advising, answer basic questions, and connect students with success resources at the Des Plaines campus. You will also promote OATSS services both on campus and virtually, helping students prepare for appointments with staff advisors.

Position runs September 2026 to May 2027, 10–15 hours per week with a flexible schedule that adapts to peak periods.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled at Oakton College during Fall and Spring (6+ credits).
• GPA at least 2.33 and in good academic standing.

Responsibilities

• Develop understanding of advising policies and resources.
• Assist students with degree evaluation and MyOakton basics.
• Help students understand course registration policies.
• Perform front-line Enrollment Center tasks (check-in, follow-ups).
• Promote OATSS programs and services on campus or virtually.
• Coordinate flyers and invitations for academic success campaigns.
• Represent OATSS at campus events and workshops.
• Support departmental projects (data entry, errands).
• Model professionalism to students and families.
• Attend Peer Advisor meetings and training.
