Job summary

Oakton College in Skokie is seeking a Peer Advisor to support the academic advising process, help students with registration basics, and connect them to success resources within the Office of Advising, Transitions, and Student Success (OATSS). You will work at the Des Plaines or Skokie Enrollment Center and promote services virtually.

The role requires current enrollment at Oakton (6+ credits each Fall/Spring), a GPA of 2.33+, and strong communication and leadership.

Qualifications

Must be currently enrolled at Oakton College in at least six credit hours during Fall and Spring semesters.
Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.33 or higher and be in good academic standing at Oakton College.
Display strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills and the potential to develop these skills.
Willing to serve as a role model and leader on campus in regards to academic success.
Ability to work independently and with diverse people.
Capacity to listen and respond to individual and group questions/concerns.
Eligible to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

Develop understanding of academic policies and advising operations.
Assist students with degree evaluations and registration tools.
Support front-line enrollment center operations and appointment prep.
Promote OATSS programs and services via on-campus and virtual efforts.
Coordinate flyers, invitations, and event logistics for academic success campaigns.
Represent OATSS at campus events and workshops.
Participate in departmental projects and training.
