Job summary

University of Central Florida is seeking a Maintenance Technician II to support campus operations, focusing on preventive maintenance, plumbing, electrical, painting, and carpentry. The role includes on‑call duties and collaborating with campus departments to ensure a safe, clean, and functional environment.

The position requires an approved apprenticeship in multiple trades or a high school diploma with 3 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Completion of an approved apprenticeship program for multiple trades and 3 years of relevant experience; or a high school diploma and 3 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in facilities maintenance or a related field is preferred.
• Experience with interior and exterior painting and color matching is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform planned preventive maintenance (PM) and PM repairs (PMR) on building systems and equipment.
• Respond to service requests and perform corrective maintenance to restore malfunctioning systems and equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair issues including leaking pipes, clogged drains, faulty lighting, and more.
• Complete general carpentry work including floors, doors, windows, and walls.
• Provide interior and exterior painting to protect surfaces and maintain facility appearance.
• Maintain and replace electrical components such as light fixtures, outlets, switches, motors, pumps, and compressors.
• Perform maintenance on heating system components, valves, and soft water systems.
• Complete work orders with labor hours, materials, and notes.
• Identify safety concerns and report them.
• Adhere to guidelines and policies; assist with inventory control and security measures.
• Collaborate with campus departments.
