Job summary

Georgetown University is seeking a Locksmith I to provide skilled locksmith services on its Main Campus in Washington, DC. The role involves installation, replacement, and repair of door locks and hardware, key cutting, rekeying, and lock picking as needed, with duties aligned to safety standards.

The position is full-time (40 hours) on the Georgetown University campus at 37th & O Street NW, Washington, DC 20057, reporting to the Supervisor of Lock Shop and Access Control.

Qualifications

• At least 1–2 years of locksmithing experience or related trade.
• High school diploma or GED; apprenticeship or equivalent training.
• Must be bondable and understand locksmith terminology, tools, and safe work practices.
• Familiarity with blueprints, plans, hardware schedules, and codes (ADA, NFPA, ANSI/BHMA).
• Skilled in pinning locks, changing cores, cutting keys, and safe lock repairs; CMMS experience.
• Ability to work with ladders/scaffolding and lift up to 50 lbs; valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Provide locksmith services to support the University community; install, replace, and repair door locks and hardware.
• Cut keys, rekey, and pick locks as needed.
• Perform journey-level maintenance per industry standards; respond to service requests and preventive maintenance.
• Follow safety rules and regulations; use standard locksmith tools and supplies.
• Coordinate with Supervisors and other shops; work independently or in teams across campus.
