Job summary

Sodexo at The University of Alabama in Huntsville is seeking a Cook I to prepare and present a variety of hot and cold items for all meal periods and events, following Sodexo's culinary standards for quality, presentation, and safety.

You'll work in a fast-paced kitchen, maintain a clean workstation, support a collaborative team, and perform duties that may vary by account while upholding food safety and sanitation standards.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of basic operation of equipment and food-handling procedures preferred.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Good working knowledge of food preparation.
• Requires familiarity of kitchen equipment.
• Must be able to read and follow a recipe unsupervised.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food in accordance with current applicable standards and regulations to ensure high-quality service.
• Follow basic recipes and product directions for preparing, cooking, and serving foods.
• Estimate food requirements and keep records to plan production and requisition supplies and equipment.
• Significant walking or mobility required.
• Ability to walk or stand for extended periods (shift length).
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally 50 pounds.
• Attend work and be punctual; other duties may be assigned.
