Job summary

University of Wisconsin‑Whitewater is seeking an Investigator in the Office of the Chancellor to conduct thorough investigations into high‑profile complaints, including civil rights and conduct violations, ensuring compliance with laws and university policies. The role reports to the Chief of Staff and Senior Strategy and Compliance Officer.

Required is a bachelor’s degree with at least three years of related experience; JD or advanced degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience investigating and resolving discrimination, harassment, or employment-related complaints, including sexual misconduct or sexual violence.
• Relevant clerkships, internships, or clinical experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Conduct prompt, impartial, and thorough investigations by developing investigative plans, interviewing complainants, respondents, and witnesses, gathering and preserving evidence, and maintaining comprehensive case records.
• Interview and assess allegations, conduct follow-up inquiries, and collect relevant information regarding misconduct or policy violations.
• Draft clear, accurate correspondence throughout the complaint resolution process.
• Prepare comprehensive investigative reports with factual findings and analyses.
• Provide consultative support to affiliated entities regarding ongoing investigations and processes.
• Communicate investigative updates to stakeholders and determine applicable policies.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and handle highly sensitive information in compliance with policies and laws.
• Stay current on laws including Title VI, Title IX, VAWA, and the Clery Act within a university setting.
• Collaborate effectively with departments across the university to support compliance efforts.
