Job summary

Guilford College is seeking an HVAC Mechanic to operate and maintain campus heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and electrical systems. You will train others and perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs to ensure a comfortable learning environment.

The role requires NC HVAC Certification, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to read plans and diagrams. The position supports safety compliance and campus facilities during non-business hours as needed.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of pneumatic controls, DDC controls, and ladder diagrams.
• Ability to diagnose malfunctions in building mechanical and electrical systems.
• Knowledge of and skill in using small power hand tools.
• Knowledge of operation, repair and maintenance of refrigeration equipment.
• Equivalent experience or a related Baccalaureate degree.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse constituencies and write clearly.
• Computer literacy and ability to read architectural plans and specs.
• HVAC Certification in North Carolina is required.

Responsibilities

• Maintains heating, ventilating, air conditioning and electrical systems on campus.
• Performs preventive maintenance, cleaning, adjustment, repair and parts replacement.
• Maintains equipment records for scheduling maintenance and parts orders.
• Monitors system performance and responds to malfunctions and repairs.
• Responds to emergency calls during non-business hours and coordinates corrective actions.
