Job summary

Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor, CT seeks an experienced full-time HVAC Technician to maintain and repair campus heating, cooling, and mechanical systems. The role focuses on safe operation, energy efficiency, and repair across buildings, including boilers and chillers.

A Connecticut S-2 Unlimited Journeyperson license or equivalent is strongly preferred, with 5+ years of relevant experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package and a collaborative Physical Plant team environment.

Qualifications

• Connecticut S-2 Unlimited Journeyperson license or similar required/preferred.
• Minimum five years of HVAC/mechanical trade experience preferred, with commercial/institutional exposure.
• Experience with chillers, boilers, hydronic systems, and HVAC controls preferred.
• Experience with Building Management Systems/automation is strongly preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and equipment specs.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of HVAC systems campus-wide.
• Maintain heating and cooling equipment including boilers, chillers, pumps, AHUs, rooftops, and piping.
• Diagnose system problems and troubleshoot electrical and controls issues.
• Operate and monitor the Building Management System (BMS) and adjust schedules/alarms.
• Read blueprints and manufacturer manuals to plan work.
• Coordinate with external contractors as needed.
• Respond to emergencies and restore equipment to operation.
• Maintain safe, clean, and organized mechanical spaces.
