Job summary

Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor, CT is seeking an experienced full-time HVAC Technician to maintain and repair campus HVAC systems, including boilers, chillers, pumps, and controls. The role requires operating the Building Management System and coordinating with contractors.

Ideal candidates have a Connecticut S-2 license (or equivalent) and at least five years of relevant experience in commercial or institutional settings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Connecticut S-2 Unlimited Journeyperson Heating, Piping and Cooling License preferred/required, or similar Connecticut HVAC trade license.
• Minimum five years of progressively responsible HVAC/mechanical trade experience preferred, with substantial commercial or institutional HVAC experience.
• Experience with chilled-water systems, chillers, boilers, hydronic heating systems, pumps, air-handling equipment, and HVAC controls preferred.
• Experience with building automation systems/controls.
• EPA 608 certification preferred/required where applicable.
• Experience in educational/institutional or multi-building environments is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of HVAC and related mechanical systems campus-wide.
• Maintain and repair boilers, chillers, pumps, AHUs, rooftops, hydronic systems, piping and controls.
• Diagnose HVAC problems and perform electrical and controls troubleshooting.
• Operate and monitor the campus Building Management System (BMS) and adjust schedules and alarms.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and manufacturer specs.
• Coordinate with outside contractors and respond to emergencies to restore operation.
• Maintain safe, clean mechanical rooms and work areas.
