Job summary

Smith College is seeking an HVAC/R Operator to safely operate, repair and maintain the college’s HVAC/R systems under the facilities manager. Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; HVAC/R experience accepted in lieu of a degree.
• Five years of field experience in HVAC/R maintenance, servicing and repair.
• Ability to obtain required licenses (Massachusetts Refrigeration Technician, pool license if requested).
• OSHA 10/30-hour certification may be required; valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Operate, repair and maintain HVAC/R systems in college facilities.
• Monitor energy management system and 4,000-ton chiller plant.
• Inspect, test, lubricate, replace parts and troubleshoot equipment.
• Record operational data and maintenance visits; ensure safety rules are followed.
• Drive college vehicles as assigned and coordinate with supervisor on issues.
