Job summary

Texas Woman’s University in Denton is seeking a Preventive Maintenance Technician to perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and diagnostic servicing across campus systems. This role supports a safe and comfortable educational environment by maximizing system performance, reducing downtime, and extending equipment life.

The position requires 2–4 years of HVAC maintenance experience, familiarity with CMMS, and a high school diploma or GED with preferred technical certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical certification preferred.
• 2–4 years HVAC maintenance experience; post-secondary campus experience preferred.
• EPA Section 608 Certification preferred (Type I, II, III, or Universal).
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Experience with CMMS (TMA, Maximo, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment including air handlers, rooftops, chillers, boilers, pumps, VAV boxes, split systems.
• Inspect for mechanical, electrical, and efficiency issues and report findings.
• Adjust and calibrate HVAC controls, sensors, thermostats, and safety devices.
• Clean coils, replace/clean filters, drain lines, and service components.
• Document refrigerant levels and assist in leak detection.
• Coordinate repairs with senior staff or external contractors per campus procurement policies.
• Maintain maintenance records and CMMS entries.
• Coordinate work to minimize disruption to classrooms, labs, and research environments.
• Respond to service requests and emergency calls per procedures.
• Adhere to safety standards and procedures.
• Attend departmental meetings and training.
