Job summary

North Carolina Central University (NCCU) in Durham, NC, is seeking a Facility Maintenance Supervisor - HVAC to lead the maintenance shop, supervise HVAC staff, and ensure safe, reliable building systems. The role plans daily work, maintains PM schedules, and coordinates with project managers to deliver timely repairs and improvements.

Qualifications

Comprehensive knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigeration, the NEC, and applicable regulations.
Ability to interpret projects using blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
Ability to plan, organize, and lay out work from sketches and verbal direction.
Skilled with electrical metering devices, diagnostic tools, and standard HVAC equipment.
Ability to supervise and coordinate the work of others.
Working knowledge of Banner or similar enterprise systems, and Microsoft Office (Word/Excel).
Ability to monitor budgets, track expenditures, and manage resources.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and initiative.
Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends and special events.

Responsibilities

Supervise and coordinate the maintenance shop for HVAC systems to ensure safe, efficient operation.
Plan and assign daily work activities; define duties and conduct evaluations.
Maintain and update preventive maintenance plans and conduct routine inspections.
Train staff and coordinate formal training as needed.
Monitor budgets and order materials within budget; track resources.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC components; oversee installations and replacements.
Collaborate with project managers on repairs and special projects; oversee contractors.
