Job summary

State of North Carolina - Adult Correction is seeking an experienced HVAC Supervisor to lead advanced mechanical trades, oversee installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems, and mentor offender labor under the CAP program.

The role requires interpretation of blueprints, adherence to NC Building Codes, strong teamwork, and the ability to manage project scope, schedule, and budget while ensuring safe, reliable operation of facilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and up to three years of journey level experience in the installation, maintenance or repair of HVAC equipment including chillers, air handlers, pumps, piping, and controls.
• EPA Type II or Universal certification required by Title 40 CFR part 82, subpart F.
• Experience reading schematics and/or blueprints.
• Ability to lead and supervise offender labor in safe mechanical trade practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled journeyman level HVAC and mechanical system installation, maintenance, and repair.
• Read, interpret, and apply mechanical plans, blueprints, and technical specifications.
• Lead, train, and supervise offender labor in safe and effective mechanical trade practices.
• Ensure all mechanical work complies with project scope, budget, schedule, and NC Building Codes.
• Coordinate daily work activities and communicate project needs with the Mechanical Superintendent.
• Inspect and troubleshoot HVAC and refrigeration systems to ensure proper operation and reliability.
• Maintain accurate documentation of mechanical work, materials, and progress.
• Support construction, renovation, and major maintenance projects by providing expert mechanical guidance and oversight.
