Job summary

Auburn University is seeking a student assistant to support landscaping and grounds maintenance across campus. Responsibilities include planting, mulching, weed control, and assisting with event setups to enhance campus aesthetics.

You will work with the Facilities Management team, follow safety guidelines, and gain hands-on experience in a dynamic outdoor environment. Must be enrolled and capable of lifting up to 30 lbs.

Qualifications

• Must be a currently enrolled student at the university.
• Previous landscaping or grounds maintenance experience is a plus but not required.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions.
• Strong attention to detail and a good work ethic.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and perform physical tasks.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Landscaping & lawn care: maintain flower beds, shrubs, and perform weeding.
• Cleaning and maintenance: empty trash, sweep, and clean outdoor spaces.
• General grounds upkeep: operate tools and perform minor repairs.
• Assisting with special projects: event setups and campus beautification.
• Safety & compliance: wear PPE and report hazards to supervisor.
