Job summary

Auburn University at Montgomery is seeking a groundskeeper to maintain university grounds and perform landscaping installations. The position is housed within the Campus Services Department and may involve duties related to grounds care and equipment operation on campus in Montgomery, Alabama.

Responsibilities include maintaining grounds, installing landscaping, operating street sweeping equipment, and supporting athletic field maintenance where needed.

Qualifications

• Highschool diploma or GED.
• Regular physical exertion; exposed to heat, cold, dust, chemicals.
• Lifting up to 50 pounds; occasionally up to 100 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Maintains University grounds using edger, blower, rake, shovel, trimmer, mower, and other equipment.
• Maintains equipment such as hand tools, including picks, shovels, and rakes; power equipment, including chain saws, edger, weed eaters, fork-lifts, push and riding mowers, backhoes and field painters.
• Installs landscaping and related items on University grounds.
• May operate motorized street sweeping and cleaning equipment to keep University streets and parking lots free of dirt, leaves and other debris.
• May maintain athletic fields.
