Job summary

Montgomery College is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Supervisor for the Germantown campus on first shift (6:00am – 2:30pm, Mon–Fri). This exempt, non-bargaining role leads a grounds team, schedules and inspects work, reviews timesheets, and oversees equipment and safety.

The position includes recruiting, training, and coordination with campus activities. Essential personnel only; responsibilities include budget and procurement, incident response, and ensuring a clean, safe learning environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent experience.
• Experience supervising grounds/landscape personnel in large settings required (educational or large campus).
• Training in Maryland/EPA guidelines for lawn care chemicals preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and guidance to assigned staff engaged in grounds maintenance and operations.
• Schedule, assign, inspect and review work of staff to ensure standards are met.
• Review and approve timesheets; conduct performance evaluations and coaching; participate in hiring decisions.
• Inspect equipment daily to ensure it is functional and safe for use; oversee grounds cleanliness and safety.
• Create, track and close work orders; manage procurement of supplies and equipment.
