Job summary

LMU in Los Angeles seeks a landscape maintenance worker to care for lawns, shrubs, and flowerbeds, and to maintain irrigation systems. You will weed, prune, fertilize, mow, and oversee drainage and soil preparation across campus.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of general landscape maintenance experience.
• Experience in commercial landscape maintenance is desirable.
• Knowledge of Southern California plants, hedges and flowers is desirable.
• Ability to diagnose landscape conditions and adjust irrigation accordingly.
• Demonstrated computer competency.

Responsibilities

• Weed shrub, ground cover, and flowerbeds.
• Sweep, rake, and remove leaves and trash.
• Prune and shape trees and shrubs for improved health.
• Edge and trim ground cover around buildings, walks, walls, and trees.
• Cultivate soil; prepare soil for seeding or sodding turf.
• Renovate and aerify turf; fertilize turf and plantings.
• Mow turf with walk-behind and riding mowers.
• Operate and maintain irrigation systems and controls.
• Install new irrigation systems as required and approved.
• Repair irrigation lines/valves; inspect irrigation systems.
• Operate various power equipment as needed.
• Assist with excavation for irrigation/underground utilities.
