Job summary

University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) is seeking an Irrigation Mechanic to join the Grounds team. In this hands-on role, you will install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair manual and automatic irrigation systems across campus outdoor spaces, ensuring safety and efficiency.

The ideal candidate has extensive irrigation experience, a valid CA driver’s license, and relevant certifications. Work hours are 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, with occasional after-hours support as needed.

Qualifications

• Six years irrigation experience preferred in a commercial setting.
• Cal/OSHA Competent Person Training preferred.
• Ability to install, repair and interpret irrigation systems and water management.
• Ability to read irrigation specs and plans.
• Safely use hand/power tools and related equipment.
• Communicate clearly in written and oral form.
• Proficient with CMMS and digital work orders.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair manual and automatic irrigation systems.
• Support safe, efficient, and well-maintained campus landscapes.
• Work outdoors as part of the Grounds team.
• Read and interpret irrigation specifications and plans.
• Respond to off-hour emergencies and overtime as required.
