Job summary

American Express in New York is offering a master’s-level opportunity to support governance, risk, and program management across AENB HQ. You will research data, analyze trends, and summarize insights to inform strategic decisions while contributing to multi‑unit initiatives and cross-functional projects.

The role emphasizes strong communication, independent and collaborative work, and comfort with AI-enabled tools, with exposure to senior leadership priorities.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Master’s degree program in Finance, Economics, Business, Risk Management, Data Analytics, or a related field.
• Graduation expected between December 2027 and June 2028.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with ability to analyze data and evaluate risk scenarios.
• Ability to work independently and in a team, prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, ability to present ideas clearly to diverse stakeholders.
• Comfort using AI-enabled tools to support research, analysis, productivity, and communication.
• Eligibility to work in the United States; visa sponsorship not provided by American Express.
• Preferred: Interest in banking, financial services, governance, risk management, or strategy.

Responsibilities

• Support high-priority cross-functional initiatives impacting multiple business units.
• Conduct research, gather and analyze information, identify trends, and summarize insights to inform decisions.
• Contribute to project planning, execution, tracking, reporting, and issue resolution.
• Prepare communications, presentations, status updates, and other materials for team members and leadership.
• Prepare and/or lead presentations and materials, breaking down complex ideas into actionable messages.
• Gain exposure to executive-level priorities and decision-making within AENB HQ.
• Collaborate with leaders across multiple business units and corporate functions.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a Master’s degree program in Finance, Economics, Business, Risk Management, Data Analytics, or a related field
• Master's degree candidates with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028
• A keen interest in project management, risk management, and/or governance
• Proven ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with an ability to analyze data, identify trends, and evaluate risk scenarios
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast‑paced environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present ideas clearly to diverse stakeholders
• Comfort using AI‑enabled tools to support research, analysis, productivity, and communication, with appropriate judgment and attention to accuracy
• Comfort working with ambiguity, learning new topics quickly, and contributing to projects with cross‑functional stakeholders
• Demonstrated initiative, intellectual curiosity, and commitment to delivering high‑quality work
• Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States is required; the company will not pursue visa sponsorship
• Preferred: Interest in banking, financial services, business operations, governance, risk management, controls, program management, or strategy
