The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst at the University of Houston supports campus planning, operations, research, and public engagement by building, maintaining, and analyzing geospatial datasets and creating high-quality maps, dashboards, and web apps.

Responsibilities include collecting and cleaning data, producing maps and dashboards, integrating CAD/BIM and remote sensing, and automating workflows with Python/ArcPy or FME.

Formación

• Thorough understanding of geospatial analysis and GIS principles.
• Experience with ESRI ArcGIS Pro/Enterprise/Online is preferred.
• Ability to collect, clean, and maintain geospatial datasets and create maps and dashboards.

Responsabilidades

• Collects, cleans, and maintains geospatial datasets (parcels, buildings, utilities, etc.).
• Produces cartographic maps, web maps, and StoryMaps for planning studies and projects.
• Builds and manages campus basemaps, feature services, and symbology libraries.
• Performs spatial analyses (network, proximity, suitability, density, 3D visibility).
• Develops repeatable workflows for recurring analyses (space utilization, mobility).
• Integrates CAD/BIM, survey, and remote-sensing into GIS; reconciles coordinate systems.
• Establishes metadata, QA/QC, data governance; documents processes.
• Configures ArcGIS dashboards and web apps for non-technical users.
• Uses Python/ArcPy, ModelBuilder, and/or FME to automate ETL and map production.
• Supports geospatial components of regulatory reporting and data privacy.
• Maintains continuity plans for GIS services and supports emergency mapping.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Educación

4-year degree in Geography/Geospatial Science or related field

Associate's Degree with 2–5 years GIS experience
