Description:

The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst supports campusplanning, operations, research, and public engagement by building,maintaining, and analyzing geospatial datasets and creatinghigh-quality maps, dashboards, and web apps.

1. Collects, cleans, and maintains geospatial datasets (parcels,buildings, utilities, land use, mobility, environmental layers)using ESRI ArcGIS Pro/Enterprise/Online and related tools.

2. Produces cartographically sound maps, web maps, and StoryMapsfor planning studies, capital projects, emergency response, andcampus wayfinding.

3. Builds and manages campus basemaps, feature services, andsymbology libraries; ensures consistent standards acrossprojects.

4. Performs spatial analyses (network, proximity, suitability,density, overlay, 3D scene/visibility) and summarizes results inclear tables, graphics, and dashboards.

5. Develops repeatable workflows for recurring analyses (e.g.,space utilization, mobility and access, sustainability metrics,environmental risk).

6. Integrates CAD/BIM, survey, and remote-sensing (e.g., LiDAR,aerial imagery) into GIS; reconciles coordinate systems anddimensional accuracy.

7. Establishes metadata, versioning, QA/QC checks, and datagovernance aligned with university standards.

8. Documents processes and maintains a data catalog for campusstakeholders.

9. Configures ArcGIS dashboards, web apps, and features editingexperiences for non-technical users.

10. Uses Python/ArcPy, ModelBuilder, and/or FME to automate ETL,data validation, and map production.

11. Supports geospatial components of regulatory reporting(e.g., environmental, ADA accessibility, safety zones) and dataprivacy requirements.

12. Maintains continuity plans for GIS services and contributesto emergency mapping when needed.

13. Performs other job-related as assigned.

MQ: Education: Requires a thorough understanding of boththeoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical orprofessional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than oneprofessional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normallyobtained through a formal, directly job-related 4-year degree froma college or university or an equivalent in-depth specializedtraining program that is directly related to the type of work beingperformed. Preferred: Degree in Geography/Geospatial Science, UrbanPlanning, Environmental Science, GIS, Computer Science, or relatedfield or Associate's Degree with 2-5 years of professional GISexperience (higher-education or public sector preferred).

Experience: No experience required.

Preferred: Experience integrating CAD/BIM, survey, and remotesensing into campus GIS. 3D GIS (Scene Viewer, ArcGIS Urban),network analysis, and mobility/accessibility modeling. Familiaritywith open-source tools (QGIS), cloud GIS, and versioned enterprisegeodatabases. Prior work supporting campus planning, facilitiesmanagement, sustainability programs, or emergency operations.Certification/Licensing: None.
