Job summary

The University of Virginia's Fire Safety & Prevention Division seeks a Fire Safety Inspector to inspect UVA facilities and ensure compliance with the Virginia Statewide Fire Prevention Code. The role supports life safety and the Fire Marshal in program development and event coordination.

Successful candidates will show strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a diverse team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1+ year of relevant fire safety, inspector or emergency response experience.
• Valid unrestricted driver’s license; ability to obtain VA Driver’s License within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Perform Fire Safety Inspections across UVA facilities.
• Monitor and coordinate special events and projects.
• Manage tent permit processes and support fire safety training.
• Assist Fire Safety Division leadership and Fire Marshal.
• Interact with local and state officials on safety matters.
• Support DSS mission and fire safety programs.
