Job summary

Virginia Tech's Department of Economics seeks a detail-oriented Fiscal Technician to support financial and administrative operations within the department, including finances, purchasing, reimbursements, payroll support, travel coordination, records management, and equipment inventory.

The successful candidate will work with faculty, staff, students, and visitors, thrive in a collaborative environment, and uphold university policies while helping deliver teaching, research, and service.

Qualifications

Experience providing fiscal, bookkeeping, accounting, or administrative support in a professional office environment.
Experience maintaining and reconciling financial records and transactions.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.
Demonstrated attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
