Job summary

University of Maryland College Park seeks a Campus Farm Program Coordinator to oversee the animals, facilities, and equipment on the Campus Farm. You will ensure high-quality animal care, coordinate class needs, and support laboratory instruction while supervising staff and student workers.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree and 1 year of related experience, with strong communication and multitasking abilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum 1 year of agricultural, animal handling, animal feeding and general animal care experience.
  • Knowledge of animal handling, feeding and general care.
  • Knowledge of farm equipment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and deliver customer service in a diverse community.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall operational leadership of the Campus Farm and support teaching, research and outreach.
  • Exercise independent judgment in prioritizing work and allocating resources.
  • Supervise staff and student workers; oversee recruitment and onboarding as appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with university policies, IACUC protocols, safety standards, farm SOPs, and health records.
  • Coordinate animal availability and laboratory logistics with faculty; facilitate laboratory instruction as assigned.
  • Maintain communication with faculty, farm managers, and external visitors; give public tours as needed.
  • Monitor budgeting and equipment replacement priorities; oversee repairs and maintenance.
