Job summary

The Archdiocese of San Antonio is seeking a full-time Maintenance Worker to service church and school facilities, grounds, and equipment. The role includes minor carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and painting tasks, with some janitorial duties as assigned.

You will diagnose problems, use a variety of tools, transport items, and ensure campus security and safety during and after work hours. Weekend or evening work may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2 years' experience in building and equipment maintenance, safety practices, and repair, or equivalent.
• Must be able to move, load, and unload equipment and supplies weighing 35 pounds and heavier.
• Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
• Able to walk long distances around campus; bend, stoop, squat, and reach; climb ladders.
• Good judgment related to emergency and safety matters.
• Ability to communicate with staff at all levels.
• May require some weekend and evening work.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of general maintenance and repair tasks for buildings, grounds, and equipment.
• Responds to after-hours maintenance and emergency calls.
• Diagnoses mechanical problems and selects appropriate repair methods and parts.
• Uses a range of tools from hand tools to precision measuring devices.
• Moves and assists in transporting furniture and supplies between facilities.
• Maintains campus security by checking, opening/closing doors and windows, and responding to alarms.
• Inspects structures for malfunctions and needed repairs.
• Reconfigures spaces and installs office furniture and equipment as needed.
• Maintains landscape maintenance and irrigation systems.
• Sets up and breaks down meeting room arrangements per work orders.
• Maintains inventory of maintenance supplies and records scheduled maintenance.
