Job summary

Area Zone Maintenance Technician at the University of South Carolina provides skilled preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance services for residence halls on USC's Columbia campus. The role covers carpentry, locksmithing, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and painting, troubleshoots advanced issues, and documents work orders with detailed follow-up to supervision.

Under supervision of the Area Supervisor, this position is essential during bad weather and participates in an after-hours

Qualifications

• Knowledge of safety practices and tools used in building maintenance.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing equipment and facility issues.
• Ability to perform heavy manual labor in physically demanding conditions.
• Ability to work independently or in a team and follow university policies.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safe, productive maintenance programs for carpentry, locksmithing, electrical, HVAC and plumbing within residence halls.
• Repair and perform preventive maintenance on electrical, mechanical, HVAC, refrigeration, and related systems.
• Work in a team to deliver high-quality service meeting industry standards.
• Complete work orders and incident reports to communicate needs and follow-up.
