Job summary

UC Irvine's Facilities Project Manager leads renovation, maintenance, and major capital projects from concept through completion. You will coordinate design, budgeting, scheduling, and stakeholder communication to deliver projects on time and within budget.

The role requires capable leadership of architectural/engineering teams, strong contract administration, and adherence to building codes and university policies across the Irvine campus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering discipline, Architecture or related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
• 4-6 years of experience in Architectural, Engineering or Facilities fields, including 3 years of responsible planning, organizing and managing teams to execute renovation projects.
• Thorough knowledge of building and construction, design, construction contract administration and California Building Codes.
• Ability to work with consultants and vendors to explore design and construction options.
• Strong communication, organization and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Meets with clients to define project scope and program; manage all aspects of project management from planning to closeout.
• Establish project plans with cross-unit coordination and funding transfers.
• Hires architectural/engineering firms and manages their services.
• Reviews cost estimates, sets schedules and budgets, and ensures approvals.
• Ensure plans conform to program; coordinate construction activities and contractor involvement.
• Close out projects and hand over operations/maintenance manuals and drawings.
• Create and maintain project records in project management software; provide status updates.
• Collaborate with Facilities Management teams to ensure policy adherence and project delivery.
• Participate in emergency response and other duties as assigned.
