Job summary

University of Kansas Medical Center is seeking a Building Superintendent to direct day-to-day maintenance and repair of building systems across campus facilities. The role reports to the Assoc Vice Chancellor - Facilities and oversees a team responsible for HVAC, electrical and mechanical systems, safety compliance, and project coordination.

The position requires 4+ years in building or mechanical trades, 5+ years in facility operations management, and 3+ years of supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of building or mechanical trades experience.
• Five (5) years of facility operations management experience in a large physical plant, managing multiple skilled building trades in large buildings or multi-building university campuses with a central power plant.
• Three (3) years of supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate the installation of new systems and equipment and upgrade older systems as they become inadequate or obsolete.
• Direct the installation, maintenance, and repair of building equipment, including motors, machinery, electrical equipment, and electrical control systems for HVAC and other building systems.
• Manage the zone preventive maintenance program and coordinate assigned employees' activities.
• Direct team members in scheduled maintenance, emergency repairs, and minor installations.
• Conduct periodic inspections of zone projects and work sites to ensure adherence to quality standards and timely completion.
