Job summary

A.T. Still University (ATSU) seeks a full-time General Maintenance Assistant on the Mesa campus to perform semi-skilled and skilled upkeep of university buildings and grounds.

Responsibilities include carpentry, landscaping, irrigation, painting, plumbing, flooring, and limited HVAC work to keep facilities safe and attractive. Key duties involve responding to work orders promptly, inspecting for maintenance needs, coordinating with vendors, and troubleshooting building systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to identify and resolve issues independently or with guidance from supervisors.
• Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, students and faculty.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work efficiently.
• Ability to climb up and down ladders to up to 25 feet.
• Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods, as well as lift and carry heavy objects, is crucial.
• Ability to collaborate with other maintenance staff or contractors.
• Ability to interact professionally with customers or occupants of the building.
• Willingness to adapt to different tasks and work schedules, including weekends or emergencies.
• Adherence to safety procedures and work instructions provided by supervisors or technical manuals.
• Proficiency in operating and maintaining equipment is essential.

Responsibilities

• Respond to assigned work orders in a timely manner.
• Inspect buildings and identify corrective maintenance needs and ensure equipment is operating correctly.
• Coordinate with vendors when work is contracted out.
• Troubleshoot general building system issues and problems.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
