Job summary

Union College in Schenectady, NY is seeking a non-exempt, full-time Facilities Maintenance technician. The role ensures safe, reliable operation of campus facilities through routine maintenance and repairs of plumbing, electrical, and structural systems.

Responsibilities include reading meters, managing utilities, and assisting with furniture moves and logistics. A NYS driver’s license and a high school diploma are required, with a ability to lift up to 50 pounds and a flexible schedule

Qualifications

• Two years of general maintenance experience in a large educational, healthcare, or residential complex.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• A valid New York State Driver's License.
• Ability to understand written and verbal instructions.
• Must be safety conscious.
• Physical ability to perform tasks for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends.

Responsibilities

• Facility Maintenance and Repair: perform routine maintenance and repairs on plumbing, electrical, and structural fixtures.
• Utilities Management: read meters and ensure proper functioning of utilities.
• Collaboration and Logistics: assist with set-up tasks and furniture movements; participate in logistics planning.
