Job summary

Girls Inc. of Greater Santa Barbara is seeking a part-time Facilities & Maintenance Coordinator to keep our campus safe, functional, and welcoming for girls and families.

You will perform hands-on repairs and maintenance, manage a simple intake for requests, and coordinate with contractors when specialized work is needed. The role combines practical, on-site tasks with coordination responsibilities, supporting vehicle upkeep, campus events, and safety readiness.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of hands-on building maintenance, facilities, construction trades, or a comparable handyperson role.
• Demonstrated ability to perform basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general repair work safely and to a high standard.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize competing requests, especially where safety is involved.
• Self-starter who takes initiative, follows through, and works well with minimal supervision.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills; comfortable explaining technical issues to non-technical staff and communicating with vendors.
• Valid California Driver's License and a clean driving record.
• Experience working respectfully with people of diverse cultures, ethnicities, abilities, gender identities, and sexual orientations.
• Ability to work flexibly in a dynamic, fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Hands-On Facility Maintenance & Repair across plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, HVAC (basic), and general upkeep.
• Conduct routine inspections of buildings and grounds to identify issues.
• Respond promptly to urgent repair issues affecting safety or operations.
• Support renovation and improvement projects, performing in-house when appropriate.
• Maintain organization and safety of maintenance areas and inventory.
• Coordinate with janitorial contractor and ensure shared areas are clean and orderly.
• Design, launch, and maintain a simple facilities intake process for requests.
