Job summary

The Mittleman Jewish Community Center in Portland, OR, is seeking a Facilities Manager to lead the maintenance team and ensure the campus of 9.4 acres and 125,000 square feet remains safe, welcoming, and operational for both MJCC and Portland Jewish Academy.

This exempt, full-time role oversees building systems, custodial operations, OSHA compliance, and coordinated contractor projects, with opportunities for professional development and a generous benefits package.

Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years of progressively responsible facilities and custodial operations experience, including at least 3 years of progressive supervisory experience.
• Deep knowledge of facility maintenance, mechanical systems, custodial standards, applicable laws and OSHA safety standards.
• Proven experience building, leading, and mentoring teams in a collaborative environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with diverse staff, students, leadership and community members.

Responsibilities

• Oversees maintenance, custodial operations, and campus safety systems (HVAC, electrical, life safety, pools).
• Leads the Maintenance team and coordinates with external contractors on renovations and projects.
• Ensures OSHA compliance and safety regulations across the campus.
• Communicates facility needs and events with leadership and staff.
• Develops SOPs, operating budgets, and long-range facility plans.
