Job summary

Lamar University Setzer Student Center is hiring Student Assistants and Event Staff to support campus programs, meetings, and special events. You will gain hands-on experience in event operations, customer service, and teamwork while helping ensure smooth execution of student and university events.

Responsibilities include setting up and breaking down events, assisting guests, and ensuring safety and policy adherence.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled Lamar University student in good standing
• Dependable, punctual, and professional in appearance and behavior
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and flexible schedules
• Comfortable with light physical labor (moving tables, chairs, equipment)
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Attention to detail and willingness to follow directions
• Excellent customer service orientation

Responsibilities

• Assist with setup and breakdown of events, including moving tables, chairs, staging, and AV equipment
• Provide on-site support during events to ensure smooth operations
• Greet and assist guests, providing directions and information as needed
• Monitor events to ensure safety and adherence to policies
• Communicate with supervisors and event organizers to resolve issues promptly
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of event spaces before, during, and after events
• Perform other event-related duties as assigned by staff
