Job summary

The University of Utah is seeking an Event Support Specialist to provide on-site operational and logistical planning support for events at the Rice-Eccles Stadium and Jon M. Huntsman venues.

This role will help ensure smooth, organized event execution and assist with setup, teardown, and vendor coordination during live events. The Assistant Event Manager position requires strong teamwork, customer service, and the ability to work evenings, holidays, and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of little to no related experience required.
• Preferred 1 year of event planning experience.
• Customer service experience and teamwork ability preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plans, coordinates and follows-through with details for special events including social activities, conferences, educational seminars, receptions, etc.
• Maintains a financial accounting and cost analysis report for each event; monitors donations and grants.
• Manages events on-site and assists attendees and faculty members.
• Assists supervisors in evaluating program effectiveness and making adjustments for future events.
• Responds to questions from participants; makes travel arrangements for visitors.
• Maintains files, records and a computer database on event details and participants.
• May oversee scheduling, catering, advertising materials, transportation, supplies, and course materials.
• May participate in accreditation reports and reviews.
• May oversee clerical staff activities related to events.
• May liaise with vendors and manage office supplies and equipment.
