Job summary

The University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado seeks an Equipment Mechanic I to diagnose, repair, and maintain a diverse fleet of grounds maintenance and facilities equipment. You will support snow removal, campus events, and day-to-day operations to keep the campus safe and productive.

You will manage maintenance records, guide operators, and help ensure safety and reliability across the campus fleet while contributing to a well‑maintained university environment.

Qualifications

• One year of relevant experience in equipment maintenance or a related field.
• Experience with hydraulic, diesel, and small-engine diagnostics and repair is preferred.
• Valid Driver's License with a good driving record is required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair gas, diesel, and small-engine equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, ignition, transmission, and fuel-system issues.
• Perform preventive maintenance services including inspections, lubrication, fluid changes, adjustments, and component replacement.
• Read and interpret service manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
• Maintain equipment maintenance records, inventory systems, and repair documentation.
• Coordinate and track vendor repairs, parts procurement, and equipment service history.
