Job summary

The Association of Independent Schools in New England is seeking a Maintenance Technician – Electrician to maintain the campus electrical systems and equipment, ensuring safety, reliability, and code compliance.

A valid Connecticut E-1 license is required; the role covers lighting, controls, and preventive maintenance across two campuses, with independent work and collaboration with the Facilities team.

Qualifications

• Significant professional experience in electrical installation, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance in commercial, institutional, or residential facilities.
• Current Connecticut electrical trade license (E-1) is required and ability to identify permit needs.
• Strong reading of electrical diagrams and ability to estimate materials for repairs.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair campus electrical systems and components.
• Install and maintain interior and exterior lighting, sensors, dimmers, and exit signs.
• Perform preventive maintenance to reduce outages and equipment damage.
• Diagnose issues affecting pumps, motors, and campus equipment; assist with generator testing.
• Complete work orders efficiently and coordinate with the Director of Facilities on permits.
• Assist with events, snow removal, and other facilities tasks as needed.
• Follow electrical safety procedures and keep work areas clean.
