Job summary

The Chronicle of Higher Education, Inc. is seeking an electrically skilled technician to maintain, repair, and renovate campus electrical systems and equipment. You will work on distribution systems, motors, relays, starters, and transformers, ensuring compliance with the National Electrical Code.

The role requires readiness for emergency coverage and potential on‑call duties. The incumbent will read schematics, install wiring, and uphold safety and quality standards while coordinating with

Qualifications

• High school diploma and a two-year electrical degree or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of commercial and residential electrical systems.
• Experience with single- and three-phase voltages and regulatory codes.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to lift 80 lbs.
• Ability to work independently and follow safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical maintenance, repair and renovations of campus buildings and systems.
• Read and follow schematics and blueprints.
• Isolate defects in wiring and equipment using testing instruments.
• Plan, install and assemble fixtures per scope of work.
• Operate vehicles and equipment and manage tool security.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and cooperate with campus community.
• Participate in on-call rotation.
